The Body You Want
The goal of breast implant removal is to remove breast implants and any hardened scar tissue that may have formed as a result of the previous breast augmentation.
A Procedure That Fits You
There are many valid reasons to remove breast implants. Sometimes your aesthetic preferences change—what you thought you wanted years ago is no longer right for you. Maybe your body has changed, and you no longer like the way your implants look. It’s also possible that you have had medical complications from a previous breast augmentation and would like to have your implants removed. The plastic surgeons at Southern Institute of Plastic Surgery will work with you to get the fresh start you want.
Care Tailored to Your Needs
During your pre-operative consultation for breast implant removal, we’ll discuss the physical and psychological benefits you hope to get from the procedure. Rather than treating everyone with the same process, we take the time to listen to each patient's concerns and do a thorough physical examination so that we can uniquely tailor your procedure to your specific needs. We will answer any questions you have and let you know exactly what to expect before, during, and after your procedure. Get started by scheduling your breast implant removal consultation today.
What to Expect
You will be given general anesthesia for your breast implant removal procedure. During the procedure, your plastic surgeon will make a strategically placed incision and then remove the existing implant along with any hardened scar tissue around the implant. Your plastic surgeon will go over all recovery and aftercare with you during your consultation and before your procedure to ensure you see optimal results.
No More Worries
You deserve worry-free days. With a breast implant removal procedure, you will get the fresh start you want. Breast implant removal can be combined with other surgical procedures, like a breast lift, to give you the results you deserve. Our board-certified plastic surgeons will listen to your unique wants and needs and tailor the procedure that best fits you.
Results You Love
Recovery from a breast implant removal procedure will vary based on the size of the implant removed, the condition of the scar tissue inside the breast, and other factors unique to each client’s situation. You will begin to see the results of your procedure as swelling subsides over the first few months, and your full results will be visible in one year.
Your surgeon will likely use the pre-existing incisions from your breast augmentation for the removal procedure, so no new scars will be created. However, if you combine the breast implant removal with another procedure, new incisions may be made. These will be placed strategically in order to be minimally visible.
Breast implant removal can take one to three hours, depending on the condition of the implants or scar tissue that needs to be removed. Once your procedure is completed, we will monitor your recovery from the anesthesia before releasing you to finish your recovery at home.
After breast implant removal, the breasts will lose the upper pole fullness and projection associated with the implant volume. A breast lift is recommended if the patient's nipple is below the fold and it is determined during consultation that it would improve the postoperative appearance of the breasts.
