In time, gravity, sun exposure, and the stresses of daily life take their toll on our faces: deep creases appear beside the mouth, the jaw line slackens, and folds and fat deposits appear on the neck. Facelifts counteract these problems by removing fat and tightening skin and muscles, giving your face a fresher, youthful look. If you are bothered by signs of aging in your face, facelift may be right for you.
A facelift is a highly individualized procedure. A traditional facelift restores the midface, jowls and neck, allowing excess skin to be removed. Your goals, anatomy and your plastic surgeon's surgical judgment are all factors in determining the best approach for your individual care. A facelift will not change your basic appearance but will restore it to a younger version of yourself that will continue to age naturally over time.
Brow lifts can revitalize drooping or lined foreheads, helping you to look less angry, sad or tired. Dr. Baker uses a minimally invasive (endoscopic) method for brow lift. A surgical video device called a endoscope and special instruments are placed through small incisions made within the hairline. This allows the tissue and muscle beneath the skin to be repositioned, altered or removed, correcting the source of visible creases and furrows in the forehead. The incision lines from a brow lift are well concealed within the hair or natural contours of the face. Results appear gradually as swelling and bruising subside to reveal smoother forehead skin and a more youthful, restful appearance.
While brow lifts are typically performed on patients aged 40-60 to counteract the effects of aging, anyone with lined or inelastic skin on the forehead - whether it's caused by muscle activity or inherited conditions - is eligible. Dr. Baker performs the brow lift procedure in a hospital outpatient facility under general anesthesia.
By removing excess fat, skin and muscle from the upper and lower eyelids, blepharoplasty can rejuvenate puffy, sagging or tired-looking eyes, making you look more rested and alert.
Dr. Baker performs this procedure in a hospital outpatient facility under general anesthesia. Incisions are made along the eyelids in inconspicuous places (in the creases of the upper lids, and just below the lashes on the lower lids). This allows Dr. Baker to tighten muscles and tissue, redistribute or remove excess fat and remove excess skin. The incisions are closed with fine sutures.
The results of eyelid surgery will appear gradually as swelling and bruising subside to reveal a smooth, more defined eyelid and surrounding area. You should have a more alert and rejuvenated appearance. Most people return to work in two weeks. Contact lenses may not be worn for two weeks. Eyes can be sensitive to light and wind and may be slightly irritated for a short while; you will be prescribed eye drops and cool compresses to counteract these discomforts.
While eyelid surgery can be expected to correct certain conditions, you will continue to age naturally. Together, you and your plastic surgeon can decide if eyelid surgery is right for you.
